Odd shots

The girls both wanted sequinned Minni Ears and were very excited to wear them! we wll went on a train ride where we were caged circus animals which was fun. The whole day was very chilly and we stayed warmly dressed. By 6:30 pm Kaela was telling us she was so tired. We were plannignto stay for the fireworks but they would only be at 9:30pm. After 1 1/2 hours of carrying comatose Kaela we decided to call it a day but had a fun filled fantastic day out and about!

Parade

Along came Mickey and Minnie with their own little ice rink up top! This great looking house and of course Woody and Buzz.

Parade time

Eventually we found a spot so that the girls had a great view of the parade. Kev stood a couple of rows behind us, so the pics you are about to see Becca took as I was videoing. As per usual the parade was fantastic and very festive. The girls had fun checking out who was coming round the corner!

Kaela's things

Kaela is far from being a shy child! She just loves meeting the characters from the different movies and books! We got a glimpse of Tigger but then he went off for a break so went sailing around toyland, seeing what everyone's castles looked like. Kaela really wanted to meet Mickey Mouse, so off we went to Toon town where we stood inthe most deceiving line I have ever done!! From outside it looked hardly busy and later found out how mistaken were as weaved in and out and around and about the house and barnyard to see him. Apparently our timing was off as a mere 300 other people wanted to do the same! Anyway we perservered and eventually got to meet him, unfortunatley we only got a good shot with the professional taking the pic which is rather odd because she totally blurred the shot on our camera, but of course that is how it will be they want you to buy it! So Kaela got her thrill of seeing Mickey. The last shot is of her sitting in his car!

Disneyland

Disneyland here we come! This year Becca decided that she would rather have a day in Disney for her birthday! So yesterday was THE day! As you walk in there is a huge Christmas tree, so we were able to get our pic there and then jointhe other many people who calso came for the day! Both girls were up at 5am as we wanted to leave at 7am and be there when it opened at 8am! Already we were in for long day. However it was great fun seeing the Christmas theme and parade. Becca is turning into a real thrill seeker and is anxious to do the rough rides,so Kev is very obliging and takes her, even though he is not that into those whereas Kaela and I are quite happy to do the cool calm and collected things! We would alternate doing things all 4 of us and then splitting up so that Becca could do the bigger rides - she reckons she in not into "kiddies rides"! There was a new ride called Finding Nemo where we went in a submarine and saw a lot of scenes from the movie under the sea and it was really well done. Of course with it being a busy time of year we spent many minutes in lines but was well worth it and we accomplished a lot! Kaela had never done Small World and was totally blown away by it, singing along as went through the canal. We always do Pirates of the Carribean and Kaela nearly lost it when in the pitch dark we went down a slope, poor child, whereas Becca on the other hand was egging Kev on for more adrenalin filled things! We stopped for lunch and then continued on our way. By no means was it a warm day!

Palm Springs 3

Ok so I mentioned that we were going to go up the cable car! Well I had checked the weather on Satruday and they warned that it is usually 40 degrees F colder up top so we decided to go to the shop adn get the girls some warmer jackets. We had been told that the desert is always warm!!! We decided to do the trip on our way home! Checked the weather and sun was forecast! This morning was a different story, I was taking things to the car and it had been rainy was pretty chilly and I spotted snow on the mountain. The long nad short of it - it had snowed and the Garrods were still making the trip up that mountain to have our first ever experience. It was absolutely beautiful and we had great fun. It was even falling whilst we were up there. They say about 2 ft fell. It certainly made sense now why the carol is "I'm dreaming of a white Christmas" being from sunny Africa it never made sense! Anyway after a fabulous 2 hours in the cold and snow we took our trip down as the mulitudes started to arrive andso we made our trip home, looking forward to the snow trip we are due to take with my sister!!

Palm Springs 2

OK so day 2! WE had a very excited Becca but nervous to! Anyway set off to Mimi's for breakfast. Our family tradition is to have bacon and eggs every saturday which Kevin makes really well, but we went to Mimi's for that! WE had looked at another tourist thing to do which we need e a few extra warm clothes for. There is a rotating tram ( cable car) whihc goes up the mountain. As there are only 3 in the world, Cape Town, Palm Springs and Switzerland we decided to do it on Sunday! We then went back to the hotel where Kev and the gals napped then it was time to get Becca ready for her dance. So off we go and she is meant to dance at 1:30 well by 3pm we were passing out from lack of nourishment so Kev quickly went to the shops for some snacks. Becca eventually danced at 5pm! The long wait was totally worth it. We are proud parents. Our daughter got a First place, two Second places and a third place. The third place was for a dance she had not even eneterd for! The pics are of her practising and then of her teacher. The last pic is of her with her trophy and medals! Becca was really nervous before she danced as the ball room jsut filled up with people but she did a fine job and did us all proud!

Palm Springs 1

Well this weekend we went for our first weekend away since we got here! We headed up to Palm Springs as Becca had an Irish dancing competition! On the friday we fetched the girls early from school and headed off. It took us about 2 hours to get there. Leaving early helped with the traffic, rain and the construction. We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn which was very pleasant! In the afternoon we took a drive to a place called the Living Desert. We had a great afternoon as we went through the "AFRICAN" bush and saw many of our favourite animals and a lot of endangered species to! It was odd for us to see giraffes in a palm tree setting! Palm desert is a very dry area and can be really warm but of course with the Garrods coming to town - NOT!! We walked around for about 2 hours before the sun went down and then we went to eat dinner at a place called Mimi's! We then headed back to the hotel for an early night as Becca was dancing the next day!

Parties and Thanksgiving

Well it has certainly been party month this November!!! The girls have been to about 4! We have been going to this great indoor place called Scooters Jungle. The theme is like huge jumping castles with a massive slide that even us parents can go down! I msut say that the first time I went It was hair raising but a load of fun!
The next photo is of the girls beofre going to our Thanksgiving uspper. As you can see miss Thandi had to be in the pic!
Then we had Thanksgiving where we had a fantastic meal with our family. It was great hanging out and of course had far to much to eat! On the Saturday we hosted my Sister's Mom-in-laws bday supper! Her name is Gloria and she has been a fantastic adoptive grandmother for the girls! We had Swedish based meal which was great and there were lots of laughs to go with as per normal!
