Kaela's tooth

Today was a shocker!! Miss Kaela came running out the bathrrom telling us her tooth was loose! So as you can see it came out!! This is 5 days before her 5th birthday! She is very excited and I am sure it will be the conversation topic for the whole day!!! At least it was not the front ones!!

Final

So all in all we had a fabulous time away with family and in the snow which was a first time experience for us all! We would certainly love to go again. Our girls managed to wake up at 6am instead of any earlier! The second morning we cleaned up and then went into the village after of course some more sledding had been done! We then were ready to leave earlier as we did want to hit bad traffic! We had a good, safe trip home with plenty of fun memories to take with us!! It was great spending the time with my sister and her family who have also taken us in as if we there own!!

Our trip 9

So you can see how much snow there is on the ground and on the roof! On our first night we had juut about all gone to bed when there was this almight crash, we thought the house was falling to pieces, nope, just the snow falling off the roof!! This was our snowgirl and Kev was trying out the sled. The girls were so entertained for hours with this and had such a blast! There faces went quite red with cold!!! There were quite a few wipe outs but the girls found that hilarious! This was right outside the cabin we were staying in!

Our trip 8

Herewith some odd shots of us at the top adn then the girls with the Mammoth!! Steve, Dennis nad Christine went down from the top and Shaz and Gloira went half way down then got out to do the rest of the route, the Garrods headed all the way down to take the kids to sled and build a snowman and we would all meet at the cabin for supper!

Our trip 7

I think that next time we go Becca can take up snowboarding, she has great balance! Well these were some shots at the top. It was freezing cold and the wind chill was something, however we got our group shot in to!!! From the top is only for experts!!

Our trip 7

Steve gave Kevin a few pointers, Shaz and Christine were boarded and up and ready to go and Dennis and Gloria were ready to ski! So off they went up the mountain whilst the girls and I took the Gondola to town where we had Starbucks and then came back up to meet everyone for lunch! Kevin enjoyed his boarding but found it tough, he started to feel muscles he had not felt or known he had! He decided to hang out with the girls and I for the afternoon as that was our original plan.

Our trip 6

So we all met togther and went to get the rentals of boards and ski's sorted out, went and settled into our cabin then proceeded for supper! We went to a place called Angels where we all had a great dinner together and started getting our plans for the next day together! BY the way you have the central heating on as high as possible!! So we started the day really early and as you can see we are all dressed up extremely warmly! The maximum for the day was about 0 degrees!! So being all kitted out everyone got ready to go on the mountain except the girls and I who were going to do our own thing! We were meeting again at lunch time half way up the mountain and then we would all go up to the very top which was 11 373 ft!! Interestingly enough we did not battle with the altitude - that was one of my worries! You have to have sunglasses on all the time and getting Kaela to keep her's on was quite an effort!!

Our trip 5

So here are S & S drigin behind us for s short time!!! The next pic ios of the cabin we stayed in and you can see how much snow its outside. There is a Gondola that goes from the village up the mountain and that came swinging past! Then there is the car that is buried!!! There was so much snow and it was surreal finally being it!

No2

Ok so this was to be the longest car trip the girls have ever done, so needless to say I was a bit nervous! Anyway they managed it with flying colours. We kept them entertained with music and movies!! OF course with the spotting of snow and it getting closer it was getting exciting the reality of being in the snow! SO who we were going with? We were going with Shaz, Steve, Dennis, Gloria and Christine! WE werer travelling seperately then meeting at a place called Bishop and hour away from Mammoth. WE stopped at a sandswhich place for lunch where we met up with S &S and from there we followed them to Mammoth!!

Our trip to Mammoth 1

Well this is going to be a lot of bloggins as there are so many pics I want to share!!! So we set off at 7am on Sunday, dropped Thandi at the pet hotel and then started on our journey to Mammoth! We managed to stop every 1 - 2 hours, our drive was going to be at least 7 hours! The landscape was amazing and so different from the left to the right. Dry and rugged and then green and snowy! As we got closer the snow was more - obviously dah!!
Anyway driving along we came across this sign to Randbsurg and Johannesburg, how funny was that! (Anyway on our way back we stopped in JBG and low and behold there was a street called Ophir (the street we used to live in , in SA)- how weird is that!!!! Unfortuantely there was not much to see in JBG so our stay was very short! ) The scenery was just amazing and on our Navigator we had many interesting sights!!
