Salt Creek

Well today the weather was nice and warm and sunny so we decided to head to the beach for a bit! The girls had a fab time, diggin for sand crabs, fetching and carrying water, throwing the ball! It gave me a chance to sit nad read and do nothing which was also great! The other huge plus was that the beach was far from crowded.

San Diego 7

So this was a close up of the cheetah! Then the wolf came along! He was a huge big playful dog! So anyway the trainer asked us all to howl and the wolf howled back! Most of the trainers us the clicker system and the animals are really good with them!

So here was Jirra the Kangaroo, who was adorable!! The next bit with the cheetah was amazing!! this golden retriever and the cheetah were put together as babies and literally have grown up together and do not like to be apart! They use the dog to teach the cheetah things! It was an amazing relationship to see!

As our trip around continued, we saw flamingos, a Panda, although we did not get into the enclosure as the line was really long and we did not want to miss the next show, then the Koala's! Koala's sleep I think 20 hours of the day, what a life!!

This was my highlight! The polar bear was playing with it's pink ball and doing very interesting manoveurs, totally oblivious to the public watching it! Out of the water was another one who was lounging around and then decided to take a stroll. We were toally amazed at how Huge they are.

After the show with the sea lions we went to get lunch adn there was this mother duck taking her babies across back to their pond, it was so cute, we then went in the Sky lift which is like a gondola to the top , so this is kind of an aerial view of the zoo!

San Diego Zoo 1

Well on the spur of the moment we decided to visit San Diego Zoo! WE were suitable impressed by the size of the place and also how much they try to make a natural habitat for the animals! We did not manage to do the whole zoo, but thank goodness we have passes as we would love to make anohter trip out there soon!
WE started at the first show which had 3 sea lions participating , doing tricks, also 2 Macaws flew around the stadium. The trainers are excellent with the animals!
